RTOS EIV Evaluation Kit Overview

Overview

The RTOS EIV Evaluation Kit (aka “kit”) is a complete solution to evaluate Sternum EIV and Sternum Platform's protection and visibility features for RTOS devices. It uses a NXP LPCXpresso55S69 board and FreeRTOS.

The kit provides the necessary hardware, application software, and cloud application access to evaluate and test Sternum technology in a typical RTOS environment.

Sternum’s Embedded Integrity Verification (EIV) provides run-time protection and visibility into the device firmware, including third-party components.

The Sternum Platform (aka ADS) is a cloud-based platform for IoT device manufacturers and their customers, which provides holistic and comprehensive cybersecurity, asset management, and device analytics and anomaly detection in one solution.

Sternum SDK enables developers to add custom traces in the device firmware for enhanced device monitoring.

Kit Contents

The kit comprises the following components:

  1. An LPCXpresso55S69 (LPC55S69-EVK) Arm-based development board (aka. demo board or device) running a fully functional FreeRTOS firmware and demo application, and its accessories (USB cable). It is equipped with a Murata CMWC1ZZABR-107-EVB WiFi communication add-on module.
  2. A set of vulnerabilities embedded in the firmware and a way to exploit them, to demonstrate and evaluate EIV runtime protection capabilities.
  3. The complete source code for the firmware, traces and vulnerabilities.
  4. Access to the Sternum Platform to view security alerts and traces generated by the device.
  5. Sternum SDK API - The tracing API allowing to send traces to the Sternum Platform.
  6. MCUXpresso IDE (free download) to modify the project code, built the corresponding firmware, and flash firmware to the development board.
